The staff offers to the hotel guests a warm hospitality Roberta, Efisio and
Tiziana will welcome you at the arrival and will give you all the
informations about where to find the most charming beaches or to go
sightseeing. If you are keen on minerals they will suggest you the best
outfit to go to the Etruscan mines and collect the most beautiful stones
The building which hosts the Hotel has been erected in 1850 by the Marassi
family which managed the mines. In 1907 it became a nuns convent. At that
time the building was surrounded by a huge Garden full of fruit trees and an
inner courtyard; at the ground floor it hosted the theatre, at the first
floor the primary school and at the upper floors the embroidery workshop. In
1933 the nuns left and the building became the city hall. In 1970 the Antico
family buys the building and transforms it in an Hotel. |

Rio
Marina can be described as an enchanted village where every single
surface or stone shines in the sun.
That's because of the haematite which is everywhere. The village
finds itself in the middle of the old mines area and it's surrounded
by red hills rich of minerals like haematite and pyrite. Rio Marina
is one of the most ancient settlements of the island: here has been
founded one of the main necropolis of the time of Rinaldone (2000
b.c.) with the remains of the first metal diggers. The village
became bigger and wealthier in the centuries thanks to the minerals.
Among the most interesting historical and cultural remains there are
the Clock Tower, with its octagonal plan; it was erected in the
first half of the sixteenth century by Jacopo V d'Aragona and at the
end of the nineteenth century was completed with the clock. Worth of
a visit the Museum of the Minerals which hosts 700 samples. |
